In today's news wire here at Dog House Boxing, I came across an interesting article by Kevin Iole (Yahoo Sports). Iole (a well respected veteran boxing & MMA scribe) posted his list of the most powerful figures in boxing for the year that just ended. Below, I list the Top 5 as ranked by Iole, followed by a link to the full story on Yahoo Sports, which lists in full, (with reasoning behind the choices) the top 25 most powerful.
Here are boxing's top 5, as ranked by Mr. Iole, Yahoo Sports:
The number one ranked most powerful man in Boxing went to Al Haymon (Boxing manager / advisor), while Floyd Mayweather Jr. was ranked number two. Ken Hershman, the president, HBO Sports, ranked third and forth went to Bob Arum, the Chairman/CEO, for Top Rank. Rounding off the top 5 was Stephen Espinoza, the executive vice president/general manager, Showtime Sports.
Top 5: 1. Al Haymon.
2. Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr.
3. Ken Hershman
4. Bob Arum
5. Stephen Espinoza
So where did names like Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer, Todd duBoef, Tom Loeffler, Kathy Duva, Leonard Ellerbe and Manny Pacquiao rank on the list? I highly recommend the link below to Iole's full story on Yahoo Sports. It truly is a must-read!
