On Friday, Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions settled its lawsuit levied against Richard Schaefer (The former CEO of Golden Boy Promotions) and surrendered its promotional rights to a numerous boxers who are associated with Al Haymon.
An unnamed source familiar with the details of the deal told Yahoo Sports that GBP (Golden Boy) will retain some promotional rights to a few of Haymon's boxers which include Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse and Leo Santa Cruz.. GBP will lose some talent such as Adrien Broner and Danny Garcia, who are now strictly with Haymon. (LA Times reports that Daniel Jacobs and Marcos Maidana are amongst some of the other Haymon backed fighters GBP will lose.)
Yahoo (Iole) further reports that part of the lawsuit's settlement requires Schaefer to restrain from promoting for a certain period of time.
The source did not report how long Schaefer must refrain from promoting.
In a report by Lance Pugmire of the LA Times, Richard Schaefer was reached by telephone but declined to comment about the settlement and attempts to reach Haymon were unsuccessful.
