If you recall, last month in what was reported as a chance meeting at an NBA game, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Mann Pacquiao ran into each other. After the game, Mayweather met with Pacquiao in his hotel room where they discussed fighting one another. Pacquiao's advisor, Michael Koncz credits that encounter as the turning point that made the fight a reality.
Shortly after the fight was announced yesterday, quoted on Yahoo Sports regarding the hotel meeting after the NBA game, Koncz stated: "No doubt, that was a turning point."
Koncz went on to add: "I'd met Floyd many times, but that was the first time Floyd and Manny met face to face and got a chance to look eye to eye. I think it was a motivator for both sides to bend a bit more. I take my hat off and tip it to Floyd for stepping up to the plate."
At this point we can all tip our hats to both sides, because as the years have shown us, making this fight a reality has been anything but easy.
Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao is officially set for May 2nd.
