The new WBO champ, Manny Pacquiao looked great in his 12 rounds unanimous decision win over Timothy Bradley on Saturday night in Las Vegas (At the MGM Grand and shown live on TV with HBO PPV). Both fighters put on a great show and going into the last round, it looked as if Pacquiao would win virtually unscathed, but with around 30 seconds left on the clock in the final round, an accidental clash of heads would leave Pacquiao with a nasty and very bloody gash on on his forehead. The injury would need doctors attention to the tune of 32 stitches.
In regards to the medical attention Pacquiao needed due to his injury: "The incision was not a clean cut. It had a star shape to it. It took multiple layers to close,” said the doctor who spoke and the post presser shortly before Pacquiao stepped to the podium to address reporters.
The doctor at the event added: "In the inside, stitches were dissolvable, there was about fifteen of those, in the outside the sutures are not dissolvable. They will come out about a week (or so)."
- (For a total of 32 stitches were needed to close the gash).
Pacquiao was in great spirits and the wound did not seem to bother him in the least.
