After Manny Pacquiao dropped a 12 round decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr., a question surrounding him was if and when Pacman would return to the ring. Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum wouldn't make any promosies but was stated he expected to see Pacquiao heal up from his injury (shoulder) and be back in the boxing ring sometime next year. Now Pacquiao is confirming the same thing, he will be back, but not until next year.
"I'm ready to fight, next year," confirmed Pacquiao, said Indonesia while there to film a TV commercial.
Pacquiao also confirmed his shoulder was healing very well.
Aside from returning to fight Mayweather in a rematch (which would be a tough sell to the public), can anyone blame Pacquiao if he wanted to retire and ride off into the sunset? He really has nothing left to prove and retiring with his health in check is not a bad idea. However, as Pacquiao stated, fans can expect to see him return to action next year. Perhaps next year will be his final year and he will go out with a win (as most high profile fighters don't like to retire on a loss).
