The boxing buzz seems to be that Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. and Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao could be finally facing each other in that inevitable fight in May of 2015. However, it might be pushed another year (2016), read on further...
Quoted in the Daily Mail (a British news print publication), Manny Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum stated:
"We want to fight him (Mayweather) and we’re willing to discuss it at any point'."
With Mayweather tied to SHOWTIME and Pacquiao with HBO,
Arum offered two ways to get the fight done.
Arum stated:
"There are two ways to go here. One is to do a Mayweather fight with both HBO and Showtime involved, as they did with (Lennox) Lewis - (Mike) Tyson, as I understand Mayweather is under contract to Showtime through 2015. The companies could come together and put on the show.
‘Or, the other alternative is, if Floyd wanted to fight Manny in 2016, he could return to HBO and we could do it there."
My fnal thoughts...
So, I wouldn't hold your breath on 2015... Arum sounds like he's fine with 2016 - to me, it feels as if both sides have been all to willing to let this play out as long as they can.
