Floyd Mayweather announces his retirement from Boxing - "I only got two more fights left" By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing (Sept 10, 2014) TweetFollow @DoghouseBoxing
Including this weekend's rematch against Marcos Maidana, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has 3 fights left under his $200 million dollar contract with SHOWTIME. Speaking yesterday to reporters at the MGM Grand, Mayweather confirmed he is retiring after his contract with SHOWTIME is completed.
"I only got two more fights left (after the Maidana rematch on Saturday) and after the next two fights I just want to build the Mayweather Promotions brand."
Floyd plans on fighting again in May and September of next year and then hanging up the gloves.
Mayweather added:
"I have to focus on Maidana. After that we can't say who's the next two are going to be but I'm pretty sure the next two will be exciting fights."
So is this really the end game for "Money"? Not so fast! Mayweather went on to add that he feels differently about the topic (retirement) every day.
