Amir Khan has spent a lot of time chasing down a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He came close last year to getting a dream match with the Pound for Pound King, but Mayweather opted to fight Marcos Maidana instead. This time, Khan is being once again mentioned as a possible opponent for Mayweather, but this go around, Khan will not sit and wait. This time, Khan is setting a deadline for negotiations, otherwise he'll bounce (look elsewhere).
Quoted in the media, Khan stated: "Last year I spent months chasing Mayweather. That is absolutely not going to happen again. I will give it until the middle of January and if there are no signs he will come to the negotiation table, then I will look elsewhere."
Khan believes he is worthy to step in the ring with Mayweather, but should the fight not happen in a timely manner, then he has to think of his own future by staying active.
"I have to stay busy and I think my last two performances have shown I belong in the same ring as any welterweight in the world, including Mayweather," stated Khan.
