Miguel Cotto vs. Saul Canelo Alvarez , how confident is HBO that this fight will happen? It's a fight that is generating tons of interest, so it's a fair question to ask Ken Hershman (Head of HBO Boxing), and that is exactly what Michael Rosenthal (Ring Magazine) asked in a recent interview.
When asked how confident he was in getting fans Canelo vs. Cotto, Hershman told the publication: "I don’t know. I’m trying to stay out of that as well to make sure it has the best chance of being made. I think it would be a fantastic fight for both guys. I love it as an event. And, as a fan, I don’t think there is a more intriguing fight out there."
So, nothing really solid in his answer. However he did leave it on a good note - one of hope mixed with fingers crossed, by adding: "I hope it’s going to get done. I know everybody on all sides is working with the best intentions to get it done. I don’t know if it will. In boxing these deals aren’t something that just happen at the snap of a finger. They take time and effort. I think it’s important to give it that space and keep your fingers crossed."
So, basically if this is a match you are dying for... then keep your fingers crossed.
