Finally a UFC match every Boxing Fan should Watch!

By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing - UFC champion Georges St.Pierre is one popular fighter. It truly seems his popularity has shot through the roof. A lot of boxing fans also like Georges St.Pierre because of his connections to Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao. He is a fighter who is very likable and enjoys a popularity that transcends the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). Plus he is Canadian... so what's not to like?

Another UFC fighter, who I actually really like and have followed off and on throughout the years is Nick Diaz. Not too long ago Diaz was talking about leaving the MMA scene to join the pro ranks of boxing. I am being honest when I say I was a fan of his before his talk of joining boxing... and that has not changed (he is exciting and truly a fighter with the kind of heart you only associate with the best Boxers). For some reason, I started early watching Diaz' career unfold (Back in early 2k). Watching Diaz avenge a loss to Jeremy Jackson, then at UFC 47 watching him taunt and knock-out the heavily favored Robbie Lawler... he truly became a star that night. It was an amazing fight and spectacular win.

I would have to say that St-Pierre and Diaz are my two favorite UFC fighters in the game right now. Hey, they both respect boxing and publicly show it, and both perform in ways that even boxing fans can enjoy. So imagine my delight! On October 29, 2011 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada at UFC 137 it's Georges St.Pierre vs. Nick Diaz.

Forget about what MMA fans think about this fight (no disrespect to the great fans of the UFC), but as a guy who's first love will always be boxing and nothing but boxing... this is one exciting match-up even boxing fans should watch... and not just because they respect and admire our sport, but because they truly are the best in their game. They aren't two guys with only a few fights to their credit... they are veterans. Plus they are still young! At age 30 for St-Pierre and 28 for Diaz... these two live cats are in their prime! Boxing friends.... this is the one!
