Team Floyd Mayweather sends Manny Pacquiao a Message

By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing - It looks more and more like Top Rank, Bob Arum and perhaps even Manny Pacquiao want nothing to do with Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. Quoted on ESPN, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions (rep for "Money" Mayweather) stated that he had been informed that at this time Arum was not interested in pursuing a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao. Arum confirmed to ESPN that a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez was possibly the next fight for Pacquiao and if that is the path they choose to take, there would be no reason in sitting down with Mayweather's side at this time to negotiate a fight.

Leonard Ellerbe personal advisor to "Money" Mayweather will go ahead with a May 5th fight, with or without Pacquiao, but is disheartened that Pacquiao's side isn't even willing to sit down.

"We have a number of options," stated Ellerbe in regards to Mayweather's next fight on May 5th, adding: "We will evaluate that and give the fans the biggest fight we can give them."

Ellerbe went on to send a message through ESPN, to Pacquiao, stating that Pacquiao himself needs to stand up and take control of the action: "But before we can get started (on a Pacquiao fight), Top Rank doesn't even want to listen. They're not even interested in Floyd Mayweather. They want no part of Floyd Mayweather. They have no interest in the little fella fighting Floyd. Manny Pacquiao needs to stand up, in my opinion, and tell his promoter that he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather next and stop hiding behind his promoter," said Ellerbe.

Ok, yes I kind of spun it, but not really, especially if you realize the true purpose is a message and it is intended for Pacquaio... you can slice the pie anyway you want, but you know what the baked goods in Ellerbe's remarks mean. It's a message that we can only hope Pacquiao gets loud and clear. Pacquiao has a lot of pull in the matter and if he really wants to please the fans and boxing in general... stop ignoring the elephant in the room... even if it means stepping over Arum.
