After a sensational 12 round fight that saw Joe Calzaghe win by split decision over Bernard Hopkins, Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren knows the future is looking great, but isn't ready to rush into anything just yet. The near future for Calzaghe could hold a fight with Roy Jones Jr., however Warren isn't rushing into anything and will wait for what Calzaghe wants.
Warren speaking to the BBC Radio Five Live the morning after Calzaghe's victory, stated: "We
chased Roy Jones for six or seven years and he didn't want to know Joe. Now he wants to know him because he's got nowhere else to go."
Warren would not commit to a fight with Jones Jr., telling the program: "I'm not saying anything - Joe has only just won his fight." Warren went on to add: "We won't make any decisions for at least a month. When Joe has been on holiday we'll sit down and have a look at our options."
Jones Jr. isn't the only name Warren is kicking around for his fighter, he is also interested in Kelly Pavlik. "There's Roy Jones and Kelly Pavlik but bottom line is, it's what Joe wants to do," said Warren.
