Top Rank Promoter Bob Arum is holding on tight to his dream of pitting his star player, Manny Pacquiao against the Golden Boy, Oscar De La Hoya in the same ring together. According to reports, the idea of the mega match-up is gaining steam and Arum is working closely with De La Hoya's promotional comapany to try and make it happen.
Arum admitted on Monday that De La Hoya is on their radar and that they are talking with De La Hoya’s Golden Boy
Promotions about the possible clash with Pacquiao.
In an interview on dzSR Sports Radio 918 on Monday, Arum stated: “I’m not the genius who thought of that idea,” Arum added: “But the media liked it, and when I presented it to Richard Shaeffer of Golden Boy, he liked the idea.”
Thoughts circulating are that De La Hoya and Pacquiao could meet at 147 lbs, or as welterweights.
Arum said a Pacquiao-De La Hoya fight “is not out of the question” and could make for a heafty pay day for Pacquiao.
