On Saturday night at U.S. Bank Arena, Cincinnati, live on HBO's
"Boxing After Dark", Adrien Broner defeated Vicente Escobedo when the
fight was called off in the 5th round. The stoppage came at 2 minutes
and 42 seconds in the 5th round, when Joel Diaz (Escobedo's trainer)
threw in the towel.
Broner had dominated from the opening round
until the fight was called off. There was no reason to let Escobedo
take further punishment and his corner did the right thing in getting
Referee Gary Rosato to step in and stop the fight.
With the victory, Adrien Broner's professional record improves to 24-0, with 20 KOs. Escobedo's record drops to 26-4, with 15 KOs.
