By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing. - Julio Cesar Chavez, the legendary boxer and father of Chavez Jr. (and personally one of my all time favorites) recently admitted to abusing drugs and alcohol during training camps of some of his fights.

Speaking to Espn Deportes, alongside Oscar De La Hoya, Cesar Chavez Sr. admitted to substance abuse before some of his fights, telling the program:  "The truth, during my training, it increased more and more. For example, at times, I would leave spaces of a month and a half without using drugs or alcohol, but afterwards, I would shorten that time."

You'd think that drug testing before fights would catch Chavez Sr., but this was never the case.  Chavez Sr. explained "Then later, it would be one month, 20 days, later 15 days. One week, four days, three days, so it would not show in the doping (tests)."

Oscar De La Hoya who was on the program with Chavez Sr. also admitted to abusing Alcohol during some of his training camps.  You can read about that here: De La Hoya admits to wrongdoing before Pacquiao clash
