By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing. Recently it was reported that Top Rank Boxing Promoter, Bob Arum made Miguel Cotto an offer of $13 million
to face off against Manny Pacquiao. That is big money, but is it really what Cotto was offered? Recently speaking to ESPN, Cotto
denied that he was offered that kind of money for Pacquiao by Arum.
Cotto stated to the media publication: "Bob said he offered us $13 million, but he never came to us with that offer."
So
what did Arum offer Cotto? According to Cotto, he was offered the same
deal as before when he fought Pacman back in '09. "He always offered
us the same guarantee he offered us in 2009, with the same benefits, and
that's not fair. He offered the exact same amount of money. Of course
it's a business, but all we want is fair business."
Although
Cotto stopped short of calling Arum and outright liar, he went on to
say: "You can say to Bob to tell me he made that offer to me to my face,
and you will see his reaction."
