Freddie Roach on Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao - It will never happen if...

By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing. Like when a TV show you use to love watching, jumps the shark, talk
of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao has become an on running
joke. What use to be the talk of the town, can no longer even be found
on a Wanted Poster in some one horse ghost town.
Really, we
are living in the final days of this fight having any shred of value to
fans left... it's become boxing's version of a tumbleweed rolling down a
dusty old road. No one even wants to talk about it any more because
let's face it... we are all tired as hell spending time doing so. I mean
really, how much time can go by before this fight is a dead issue
period? How much time before all the branches fall of the tumbleweed and
this fight becomes a stick in the dirt? If you ask Pacquiao's trainer,
Freddie Roach, the fight has a life span of one shelf year left.
Quoted
recently by USA Today regarding a Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Jr. showdown,
Roach told the publication: "I think if the fight doesn't happen next
year, it never will happen."
Roach went on to add: "People are getting bored and tired of (talking about it). We're chasing a rabbit we can't catch."
Bored
and tired... Roach has the part 110% correct. This is no longer a
Rabbit though... more like a Rabbit dying at the side of the road
waiting for a tumbleweed to roll over its carcass.
