Boxing Promoter Bob Arum on After Death, what Mayweather fears Most is...

By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing. The question is, next to dying what would be the thing Floyd
Mayweather Jr. fears the most? According to Manny Pacquiao's boxing
promoter, Bob Arum, the answer is... Losing.
To be honest with you and I
am sure you probably agree that in this aspect, Arum is correct.
I've
always felt that losing and being knocked out on live TV are two things
Mayweather must fear most. You know what I mean... Mayweather likes to
portray himself as picture perfect and being knocked out is not
something he wants on a highlight reel. Even the most dedicated hardcore fans of
Mayweather must know or at very least suspect this. Even they must
wonder if fear of losing is the reason that has kept Mayweather from facing off
against Pacquiao. Arum believes so.
Recently quoted by
USA Today, Arum in regards to why he believes Mayweather doesn't want to
fight Pacquiao, stated: "For Floyd, the worst thing next to dying is
losing. Would you risk dying for a big chunk of money? He is not
starving. He makes more money than most athletes, so he doesn't want to
'die.' That's the only way I can figure it out. Nobody can believe it.
Otherwise, it makes no sense. No sense!''
Look, I've heard decent
arguments from both sides of the equation... but what can't be ignored is the simple fact that there
really is no valid excuse from either side as to why this fight hasn't already happened. However one
must take into consideration that Pacquiao's side has publicly agreed to
every stipulation Mayweather has asked for, from drug testing, to a
bigger slice of the revenue... at this point one has to take a serious
look at Floyd Mayweather and wonder what the hell is his hang up? Until
then, perhaps the honest question has to be... Is it over the fear of
losing?
Now I can't let Pacquiao's side off that easy
and just shovel all the dirt on Mayweather... after all, if Pacquiao was
serious about wanting Mayweather... then why did he sign up for a 4th
fight with Juan Manuel Marquez for Dec. 8th when Mayweather's boxing
schedule was wide open for the very least some serious negotiations?
