Do Boxing Fans Still Support Floyd Mayweather Jr? Part One
By John Benz (Feb 27, 2009) DoghouseBoxing
According to reports circulating the internet, Promoter Bob Arum has gone on record stating that Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants $20 million dollars to fight Golden Boy Promoted, Shane Mosley. The $20 million dollar price tag is one that Arum feels is outrageous.

So what do the fans think of the $20 million dollar price tag? Do fans support this and do they still support Mayweather Jr.? Do they agree with Arum, or side with Mayweather Jr.?

Below are a few thoughts and comments posted on our Forum the Dog Pound. Since there is no better place to check the pulse of fans...

RockyMarshMellow writes: I think boxing could do without Mayweather to be truthful. Best thing to do is just ignore him. He obviously just wants to milk it and get as much money as humanly possible and to be truthful he doesn't give a shit about the sport.

So I don't give a shit about him. Mosley on the other hand is a real champion. None of these demands of 20 million, just gets on with it. I hope the fight does come off between them two and I hope Mosley knocks the little f@#k out.

That would be the ultimate feel good fight of the century if it happened.

It was red hot after he (Mayweather) beat Hatton.
now....that sh!t is freezing. he ain't getting any big time paydays. what a dumb ass.

Duran Legend: Just another way of saying he wont fight Mosley.

MakWeather writes: Boxing would be and is fine without him. Can't say he wouldn't make things interesting though, especially if he comes back to fight top guys.

About Arum, for one, Mayweather/Mosley has nothing to do with him.

For two, there is a slight chance that he will be able to afford a 20 M guarentee, but he wouldn't do it anyway and would have you believe it's impossible. Just 3 or 4 years ago, he told Mayweather, who fought for Top Rank at the time as you know, that it would be 'impossible' to get purse guarentees of 7 million for Hatton or Cotto, and 8 million for De La Hoya because ' no one wanted to see that fight '.

BrianJ74: Realistically, I think Paq is the only guy Floyd would fight simply based on the possible money to be made. Otherwise, Floyd avoids everyone else.
