Boxing Result: Gary Sykes beats Andy Morris - Sykes and Morris Speak By Johnny Benz (March 5, 2010) Doghouse Boxing
On Friday night at the Huddersfield Leisure Centre in Yorkshire, after 12 rounds of action, Gary Sykes defeated Andy Morris by points. With the victory Sykes picks up the vacant British super-featherweight belt.
The judges saw it as a close fight. Two of the judges handed in identical scores of 115-114 giving the edge to Skyes. The third judge scored the bout 116-113 for Sykes.
With his latest win, Sykes' record remains unblemished at 15-0. Morris' record now stands at 18-3, 6 KOs. Speaking to Sky Sports after the fight, Sykes stated: "I need to polish up in the gym, because it was my work-rate that took me through rather than my skills."
Morris was gracious in defeat. He told SkySports: "What can I say, we fought for the British title and Gary won. Fair play (to him)." Morris went on to add that he hope there will be a rematch. For more on this fight, check out our homepage now.
