51,000 Boxing Fans watch Wladimir Klitschko KO Eddie Chambers - Pacquiao and Mayweather time to make some room! By Johnny Benz (March 21, 2010) Doghouse Boxing
Move over Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. and make some rome! There is another popular name in the game. In front of an amazing amount of people, 51,000 fans at the ESPRIT arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, Wladimir Klitschko knocked out Eddie Chambers. Maybe its time for American scribes to start paying more attention to the sport, rather than only blindly covering Pacquiao and Mayweather.
Klitschko retained his WBO and IBF belts by knocking out Chambers in the 12th round. The time of stoppage
Klitschko had pretty much dominated the action from the opening bell and with clock about to run out in the final round, Klitschko hit Chambers with a perfect left hook that knocked out Chambers.
After the fight Klitschko told the crowd: "I have to give him credit, he was fast. He doesn't have much punching power and his game plan was gone by round six."
Klitschko's record now improves to 54-3 (48), while Chambers' record drops to 35-2 (18).
Boxing is very popular these days, and for those of us truly paying attention, the popularity isn't just for Pacquiao and Mayweather. I am certainly not saying that Pacquiao and Mayweather don't deserve the praise and media attention... but with 51,000 fans showing up to a Heavyweight fight... maybe its time to start spreading the love around. Maybe its time the Media wake up. The saddest part of all this... Klitschko's fight with Chambers was not televisied on American television.
