Boxing's Greatest Referee of All Time, Arthur Mercante has Passed Away

It brings us great sadness to report that legendary Boxing Referee, Arthur Mercante Sr. has passed away. Mercante Sr. was 90 years old. According to a report out by Newsday, on Saturday, Mercante passed away peacefully at his home in Westbury, New York.

Mercante Sr. was famous the world over for being the third man in many of the greatest fights of all time. One such fight was the "Fight of the Century," ('71) which pitted Muhammad Ali against Joe Frazier.

Boxing has truly lost the Greatest Referee of All Time. Our hearts and prayers from all of us at Doghouse Boxing go out to Family and all close friends of the legendary Merchante.

God Bless Arthur Merchant Sr... He will never be forgotten!
