Oscar De La Hoya Speaks Out

Oscar De La Hoya has a great amount of faith in his fighter, Amir Khan. De La Hoya who has promotional ties to this Saturday's showdown between Khan and Paulie Malignaggi, believes that Khan has everything it takes to have an excellent future on the sport.

Quoted at a Khan - Malignaggi press event in New York, De La Hoya spoke out on Khan and when he first saw the young fighter. "I first saw Amir Khan fight in Athens on TV," stated De La Hoya. "I noticed everything you're

supposed to notice in a good fighter... the talent, the speed, the power."

De La Hoya added that he believes Khan has the same hunger that he had as a young fighter making his way up the ranks. "Khan, I believe, has the speed, power and passion I had. Those are the attributes that helped me to become who I am in the sport of boxing," said De La Hoya. De La Hoya went on to add that it is a privileged to be guiding Khan's career.

Khan makes his American debut this Saturday against Malignaggi at New York's famed Madison Square Garden.
