One of my favorite and weekly must read articles is on MaxBoxing.com. Each Monday Doug Fischer releases his MASSIVE Monday Mail Bag. It's always chalk full of the goods and is one of the best places to gauge what readers/fans of boxing are thinking. Sometimes, you can even get some news out of it. Take for instance this week's edition of Monday Mail Bag at MaxBoxing... a reader brings to the attention that Edwin Valero was disfigured in a street fight. Edwin Valero' known on the internet as Doug Fischer's son ( all considering it was Fischer who made Valero an overnight Internet sensation.) Since Valero is
known as Fischer's Kid, it was natural for a reader to send him the information.
Chris from Philly writes to Fischer's mail bag, saying: " Doug, were you aware of this? This link is in Spanish but I'll provide a rough translation: http://www.noticias24.com/vida/?p=547#comments ..."
Chris translates:
"13 August 2007
As a result of a fierce fight that happened during the dawn of this Sunday in a well-known nocturnal center of Mérida, Edwin Valero, world-wide super-featherweight champion of boxing, was wounded. The incident took place at approximately 3:00 a.m. near the Racing Bar nightclub, located in the CC Alto Prado. The authorities indicated that Valero conversed with a group of friends when they were surprised and attacked by strangers, who hurt him with a cutting weapon in the forehead. The director of the Police of Mérida, Alberto Daniel Quintero, informed that afterwards the super-featherweight champion Edwin Valero (25) was transferred to the HULA. Apparently, Valero has
been disfigured. Chris, Philly"
