By Johnny Benz (Nov 5, 2009) DoghouseBoxing
So who is the King of the ring? For most it is a toss up between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. However, there can only be one Pound for Pound King. So who is it? Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr?

Three sources which I consider reliable have the answer. For starters, both thering-online (Ring Magazine) and SecondsOut.com (website) in recent Pound for Pound ranking updates have the same identical top 5.

Both publications have Manny Pacquiao as their top fighter. Both recognize Pacquiao as the Pound for Pound King. Both publications give second place to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Also another decent source, Yahoo Sports in a recent update puts Pacquiao at number one and Mayweather Jr. at number two.

Ring Magazine and SecondsOut (two different source) have identical top 5 pound for pound lists. The top five for both pubications are as follows:

01. Manny Pacquiao 49-3-2-(38) Junior-welterweight
02. Floyd Mayweather Jr 40-0-(25) Welterweight
03. Shane Mosley 46-5-(39)
04. Bernard Hopkins 49-5-1-(32) Light-heavyweight
05. Juan Manuel Marquez 49-5-1-(35) lightweight

Yahoo's Top Five are as follows:
1. Manny Pacquiao
2. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
3. Paul Williams
4. Shane Mosley
5. Juan Manuel Marquez

Miguel Cotto who faces Pacquiao on November 14th is ranked number 6 by Yahoo, 7 by Ring Magazine and 8th place on SecondsOut.com's list.

So the Winner is...

So according to three great sources, Manny Pacquiao is the Pound for Pound King and Floyd Mayweather Jr. stands in Second place.
