This past Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Manny Pacquiao's fight against Miguel Cotto lived up to the hype and some. HBO, the TV Cable giant once again put on a thrilling Pay-per-view which in my opinion was well worth the price (which I am glad I purchased and caught in HDTV...the only way to go for such an event!)
The fight has been one hot topic on the net. Yahoo.com, the most trafficked homepage on the planet, has had countless feature stories on Manny Pacquiao since his 12th round TKO victory over Cotto.
To become the feature story on the hottest piece of real estate on the net, the topic has to be hot. Yahoo uses information from it's popular search engine to gauge the popularity of topics. It's a system you can't cheat. And folks, don't just take my word for it on Yahoo's popularity...check with Quantcast.com or Alexa.com (independent traffic research sites) and see Yahoo's number one rank for yourself.
So basically, you got to have a shit-storm of internet support to make the feature story on Yahoo. And Folks, I say those words because as someone who writes often about Boxing making the Yahoo Feature story... I am blown away with how much I have seen on Yahoo featuring Pacman this week! It's been simply freaking amazing! Pacquiao's popularity is once again shinning on the net, and Yahoo is no exception. In fact, Pacquiao has now made the feature story more than once in the last few days.
On this page I have posted 3 different screen pics on 3 different feature stories Yahoo.com ran with on their homepage since Saturday. The titles the features ran with (See pics on this page) are, "Stage is set for boxing superfight" (a refrence to Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Maywweather Jr.) "The greatest fighter of all-time?" and "Big fight stopped in final round".
It's official once again, Pacquiao Power is on Fire! It was another big night for Boxing and certainly worth a massive YAHOO!
If you missed the fight on Pay-Per-View TV this past Saturday, or want to catch a replay, HBO is offering a free replay (to those with their paid monthly subscription to HBO) this coming Saturday, Nov. 21. You can catch the HBO replay of Pacquiao vs. Cotto in HDTV beginning at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
