Police Arrest James Kirkland!

James Kirkland, who is set to face Michael Walker on the May 2nd undercard for Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton, reportedly has run into trouble with the law in his hometown of Austin, Texas.

According to the Travis County Sherriff's Department Web site, Kirkland, a Junior middleweight was charged on Sunday by the Police. Police charged Kirkland for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Kirkland, who is still on probation for armed robbery that that happened in 2003, was arrested during a traffic stop. He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Travis County Sherriff's Department Web site

As of Monday afternoon, Kirkland was still in the custody of the police.

According to a published report on ESPN, famed manager Cameron Dunkin who represents Kirkland as co-manager would not make any comments other than it looks like Kirkland was a victim of circumstances. Dunkin was not prepared to say anymore until all the facts were known.

The highly respected CEO for Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaefer, who also represents Kirkland would also not comment on the subject with ESPN because he was still looking into the matter.
