Winky Wright offers Boxing Camp to George Foreman

Feb 13, 2004  Media Report
HOUSTON, TX (February 12, 2004) – IBF jr. middleweight champion WINKY WRIGHT is ready to make history for himself, the 154-pound division and for two-time world heavyweight champion BIG GEORGE FOREMAN!

Wright, 46-3 (25 KOs), has been training in Houston, TX since February 1, in preparation for his historic March 13 mega-fight against WBC/WBA super welterweight champion Sugar Shane Mosley, 39-2 (35 KOs), to determine the first-ever three-belt 154-pound undisputed champion. The fight, promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, LLC., in association with Square Ring, Inc. and Budweiser, will take place at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, NV, and will be televised nationally on HBO, beginning at 9:30 P.M. EST / 6:30 P.M. PST.

Upon hearing the news that Foreman, a Houston resident, had announced another comeback, Wright, who is three years into his second reign as world champion himself, immediately offered to share his training camp with boxing’s “king of the grill.”

“If Big George wants to add another chapter to the boxing history book, I want to be with him,” said Wright. “I understand Big George wants to shed 45 pounds before he returns to the ring. Well my camp is the place to do it. I am training right now to eliminate 154 pounds -- from the jr. middleweight division -- by beating the belts off Sugar Shane Mosley and becoming the undisputed champion! What is 45 pounds to me?”

Foreman, 55, stated at a news conference yesterday that he will only return to the ring if he can return to a fighting trim 225 pounds, a ring-weight Big George has not seen since 1976 when he knocked out Joe Frazier in their rematch.

Tickets for this exciting evening of boxing, between Wright and Mosley, are priced at $600, $400, $200, $100 and $50, and are on sale at the Mandalay Bay Theatre Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets. To order tickets by phone, call (702) 632-7580.
