Randy Petalcorin, rated No. 2 by WBA, and PABA Light Flyweight champion and late replacement Samransak Singmanasak who has 27 KO to his name from his 36 wins, is set to fight Friday night (March 29) in Melbourne in a 10-round bout. Singmanasak is a late substitute after Lookrak Kiatmungmee pulled out 10 days ago due to injury for Petalcorin PABA title defense.
Kazuko Ioka recently vacated the WBA Light Flyweight world title and now WBA #2 Randy Petalcorin is well placed to fight for the vacant WBA Light Flyweight World title in June this year if gets past Singmanasak impressively.
Petalcorin said "I was training and ready for 12 rounds before Lookrak pulled out but now a 10-round fight is good and I congratulate Singmanasak for stepping up to fight as a late sub," said WBA #2 Randy Petalcorin.
Promoter Peter Maniatis said WBA #2 Randy Petalcorin is very close to a World title fight but he needs to win impressively against Singmanasak. Also on the card is former PABA Light Heavyweight champion Manny Vlamis fighting Kiatchai Singwancha and undefeated 14-0 middleweight Michael Zerafa on a 6 fight card program.
Jim Claude Manangquil, the co-manager of Petalcorin, has advised Randy to "be patient and not look for a knockout as the Thai boxer has 27 KO wins and that means he has power and is a dangerous opponent."
