This Saturday on HBO Boxing rising superstar Juan Manuel Lopez will take on Steven Luevano for the W.B.O featherweight title at Madison Square Garden. The 12-round main event will be first at featherweight for Lopez, 27-0, 24 KO’s, who is the former W.B.O 122 lb. champion that can no longer make the Jr. featherweight limit Luevano, 37-1, 15 KO’s, is a clever California fighter that will be making the sixth defense of his title. The Juan Manuel Lopez vs. Steven Luevano Betting Line has Lopez at -500 on the moneyline.

This is an all-southpaw battle between two speedy boxer\punchers that know their way around the ring. Luevano has boxed 250 professional rounds and is a smooth pug that can move and string together impressive combination's. Lopez is an aggressive fighter who’s punches have the sound of a baseball bat hitting a home run when they land. Lopez was a sterling amateur and his transition to the pro’s had gone completely his way until his last fight against contender Rogers Mtagwa when he was weight drained and struggled to win a decision. I think that Lopez’s off-night against Mtagwa was because he was sapped from the rapid weight loss and I expect him to again be impressive against the solid but unspectacular Luevano. The Juan Manuel Lopez vs. Steven Luevano Over\Under is at 9.5 Rounds with the Over at -115.

Luevano is the type of fighter that does everything well but nothing real special. Luevano has plenty of heart but he can be dropped and eventually Lopez’s heat seeking bombs will catch him.

Play: Juan Manuel Lopez -500 .
