Juan Urango vs Devon Alexander Boxing Betting Line

Tonight on HBO championship boxing Devon Alexander will try to show the fight world that all of his hype is warranted when he takes on Juan Urango at 9:30 PM ET. This Jr. welterweight title unification fight will be the ultimate litmus test for the rising star Alexander, 19-0, 12 KO’s. Urango, 22-2-1, 17 KO’s, is a lead fisted slugger that will be bringing the heat to Alexander as long as the fight lasts. Below is a winning boxing prediction to help give the bookies a concussion. The Juan Urango vs. Devon Alexander Betting Line has Alexander as a -400 favorite.

Some “experts” have commented that Devon Alexander is the next Floyd Mayweather Jr. but I don't see that as an accurate evaluation. Alexander is a good young fighter dedicated to his craft but he is not a special fighter yet. Styles make fights and Alexander will pit his volume punching against Urango’s pure power. Sluggers generally match up well to volume punchers and while Urango is not pretty, he is deadly. Alexander has fast hands and good technique but he presents opportunities to be hit, and his chin is still not proven against a puncher of Urango’s caliber.

Alexander also has only modest power and is flatfooted without much rhythm. Urango has deceivingly fast hands and he throws bombs from awkward southpaw angles. Urango is durable, aggressive and willing to take risks. Alexander has the better boxing ability but I like Urango with a punchers chance at the long odds. The Juan Urango vs. Devon Alexander Total is at 11.5 Rounds with the Over at -240.
