PROVIDENCE, RI U.S. Olympian Jason "Big Six" Estrada (5-0, 1 KO) plans on making a big splash in the heavyweight pool, starting Sunday night (Feb. 12) against Yanqui Diaz (13-3, 8 KOs) in a six-round bout, on "The Contender Special East Coast Pride" card, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence.
"I'm ready, 100-percent," Estrada said. "I've been working hard, three times a day in the gym. I'm eating right, nutrition-wise, and lifting (weights). After this fight hopefully I will have established my name as a top prospect in the heavyweight division.
"Diaz obviously is a good fighter who has been in against some of the best heavyweights in the world. I'm honored to be getting in the ring Sunday night to fight him."
Estrada, 25, captured a gold medal at the 2003 Pan-American Games and represented the U.S. in the 2004 Olympic Games.
The Cuban-born Diaz' claim to fame was his shocking 2004 upset of previously unbeaten Juan Carlos Gomez (37-0) via a first-round TKO, as well as Yanqui's 10-round decision against former world title challenger Vaughen Bean (44-4).
