Sumya 'The Island Girl' Anani will be Teddy Atlas' guest on ESPN Tuesday Night Fights on August 2nd. Sumya Anani stunned the female boxing world in 1998 with a decision win over the then prime Christy Martin. Harold Lederman, of HBO, said "It was absolutely one of the most amazing fights I ever saw! Christy tried everything, but couldn't stop Sumya."
Christy went to the hospital after the fight, and consequently never wanted a rematch. Sumya went on to win 4 world titles, from 135-147! She is ranked # 1 @ 147 by Boxrec. Ranked # 1 @ 140 by WBC, WBAN, IFBA, & IWBF. The current World IBA Welterwgt. Champ, & the current World WIBA 140 Champ.
