Arroyo Fighting in Vegas Saturday
Media Report (November 11, 2005)

Hot up-and-coming junior welterweight prospect Vincent Arroyo, 2-0 (2 KOs), has been selected to fight this Saturday, November 12, at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada as part of an invitation-only boxing event. 18-year-old Arroyo, from Amherst, New York, will face Mexico’s Juan Perez, 1-3-1 (1 KO), of Guadalajara in a four-rounder.

A pulverizing puncher, Arroyo is coming off a second round knockout on October 21 at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York. “I’m very excited about fighting in Las Vegas,” he admits. “Some guys never get to fight in Vegas and I’m here in my third bout.”

Arroyo’s exuberant promoter, Rick Glaser, says he’s also excited about the opportunity. “This is quite an honor for Vincent to be chosen to fight on a special card like this one. I’m thrilled about it and I know Vincent is too. This is a good, tough opponent. Hopefully he’ll extend Vincent. Perez has never been stopped; he’s never even been off his feet.”

Arroyo is managed by Steve Nelson, who also manages WBC Heavyweight Champion Hasim “The Rock” Rahman. His trainer is Buffalo’s Rick Diaz, who also works with world-rated lightweight Victoriano Sosa and prospect Hector Alejandro Jr.
