In a very enjoyable main event of the Warrior Boxing card in Tampa, Florida WBO junior middleweight champ Daniel Santos devoured Tony Lerma over 12 rounds to retained his crown.
Santos dominated Lerma in supreme fashion, winning almost every round.
The Judges scored the fight : 118-110, 120-107, 120-107.
Also on the card, DaVarryl Williamson continues to impress, winning the NABF title. Williamson won with majority decision over Eliecer Castillo. Williamson was dropped in the eighth but to no avail for Castillo. Williamson picked himself up and went on to win the fight. One judge scored the fight 113-113 and Two other Judges had it 115-111 in favor of Williamson.
The Jewel of the card, literally, was highly regarded Syd Vanderpool, gave the fans what they wanted by defeating Tito Mendoza to become the official IBF No.1 contender. The fight was never dull and once again Vanderpool ascertained to the crowd why he is avoided by so many fighters. Judges were impressed with what they saw, scoring a very respectable 114-111, 116-109 and 119-106.
