A large crowd of support made of family and friends showed up as Spadafora left the County Jail Monday night. Spadafora left shortly after his girlfriend denied accusations that he tried to kill her in McKees Rocks. As he left the jail, Spadafora wearing a towel over his head made no comments to the press and was quickly whisked into a waiting vehicle and driven off.
Allegedly shot by Spadafora is Nadine Russo of the Pittsburgh area, who continues to recover Monday night in Allegheny General Hospital. Local reporter Chris Glorioso working for Pittsburgh's Channel 4, caught up with Russo, by cell phone. The critically wounded Nadine told the reporter it wasn't Spadafora who critically wounded her the day before at the gas.
"It couldn't be him, because I was shot in the front and Paul was behind," Russo said.
County police say Russo's story of Paul Spadafora not being the shooter is different than the account she gave them when they interviewed her.
Police are keeping Spadafora's vehicle and the gun that was used to shoot Russo as evidence, and even with Russo now claiming it wasn't Spadafora who shot her, the case against the boxer could still proceed.
Doghouse Boxing will continue to follow this story closely as it unfolds.
