In a tough battle, Hassan N’Dam (31-1, 18 KOs) dominated and proved to have more tools in his arsenal in winning a clear cut unanimous decision over Curtis Stevens (27-5, 20 KOs) on Wednesday night.
It was an entertaining battle and Stevens had some early success until a nicely timed and accurate right cross in the 8th round dropped him.
N’Dam was skillful throughout the fight, showing that he was the better boxer and as the fight wore on, the results seemed inevitable that they'd favor N'Dam.
At the end of 12 rounds, the
scores handed in by the judges were 116-111 twice (Jack Reiss and Glenn Trowbridge) and 119-108 (Barry Druxman) all in favor of a unanimous decision victory for N’Dam.
Even with this loss, Stevens' style remains something fans like and this bout won't take any of the shine away from him - fans will still want to see more of him.
With the win, N'Dam looked impressive and now has
become the mandatory challenger to next week's winner; IBF champ, Sam Soliman vs. Jermain Taylor of Little Rock, Arkansas.
In undercard action, Frederick Lawson remains undefeated (23-0, 20KO) after beating Ray Narh (26-6, 21KO) by way of a unanimous decision. Judges at ringside scored the fight 99-89, 95-93 and 99-89.
Miguel Marriaga (19-0, 17KO) stopped Chris Martin (28-4-3) at time of 2:30 of the 6th round.
