Boxing Result: Erislandy Lara Remains Undefeated

The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas NV- Making their first “ShoBox: The New Generation” appearance, Golden Boy Promotions presented a couple of televised bouts featuring highly-touted prospects in Erislandy Lara and Carlos Velasquez, who kept their respective undefeated records.

In the main event of the night, super welterweight southpaw, Cuba's Erislandy ''El Oro De Guantanamo'' Lara, 11-0 (6), played with a point off in the first round, landing three low blows (two called by referee Vic Drakulich) as the

one-time world title challenger, San Diegan Danny ''Dynamite'' Perez, 34-7 (17), pressed forward, working diligently behind a solid jab and head movement.

Lara began to sharp-shoot in the second and third, landing in spots, while Perez banged away on the inside to the body, with most shots being blocked off.

The action peaked by both men on the inside, both going to the body, with no clear advantage to either fighter until the final moments in the round, in which Lara landed the cleaner shots, all the while Perez laid against the ropes.

After controlling the fifth, Lara found himself in a closer contest in the sixth, as Perez kept on coming forward, working the body, with Lara resorting to working defensively by round's end.

Perez was urged to stay more active, working the midsection and finishing upstairs in-between rounds.

Lara piled up the points in the next three rounds, landing multiple pecking shots from the outside, with Perez going to the body and landing sporadically.

Lara was advised not to trade in the tenth and final round, while Perez was urged to go and get him, as Perez’ corner felt Lara had hurt his left hand in the previous round.

As the fight broke in the tenth- instigated by Perez- forcing the Cuban to stand and trade, bringing the noise decibel up with the fight going to the cards.

Scores were 99-91 on all cards.
