Super featherweight contender Monty Meza Clay 28-3 (19) recently caught up with Brian Gorman to discuss his future and more.

Brian Gorman: You have anything in the works this year?

Monty Meza Clay: Yeah, I'm looking to fight in the middle of July - we're negotiating between the 16th and 23rd of July.

BG: Will that be in Pittsburgh?

MMC:
Yes.  I'll be back after a year - I was injured - I'll be back (fighting in) the city.  I can't be specific yet, but we're looking at a great venue.  Something where nobody's done anything yet, and the city's been waiting for it to happen.

BG: Any opponents in mind?

MMC:
We're still negotiating.  We've got about three on the table right now, definitely (looking at opponents) in the top ten that we're negotiating with right now, trying to decide who's the best fight to come back with.  (Meza Clay couldn't yet elaborate on his potential opponents.)

BG: Will that be at 130?

MMC:
Yeah, I've got to move back to 130.  At 126, I was sucking too much weight.  I'm a little bit stronger at 130.

BG: You're back to training now?

MMC:
I've been back.

BG: And it was a rotator?

MMC:
Rotator cuff in my left shoulder.  Two surgeries in my right arm, one surgery in my left elbow, broke my right hand.  So we're just trying to use the time to heal up.
