Unbeaten heavyweight Amir “Hardcore”
Mansour, 16-0 (12), of Wilmington, DE, returns to the ring at Dover
Downs Hotel & Casino this Friday. The southpaw Marvin Hagler look
alike is returning after a 13 month lay-off. He scored 6 knockouts in 7
fights from December 2010 to December 2011 with 1 decision win. “I am
ready to move forward and fight any of the ranked heavyweights,” said
Mansour.
Mansour
will headline against Dominique “Diamond” Alexander, 23-15-1 (13), of
Topeka, KS, over 10 rounds and is eager for his return per his manager
Keith Stoffer and trainer Moses Robinson. Mansour won the WBF
Intercontinental title in his last fight. Alexander has fought overseas
in Australia, Germany and Poland. He won 2 out of 3 over southpaw Galen
Brown, then 35-17-1 in last fight. He’s been in with future champions
Shannon Briggs and southpaw Krzysztof Wlodarczyk.
The
co-feature brings back heavyweight Franklin “Yah-Yah” Lawrence, 18-2-2
(13), of Indianapolis, IN, now the No. 15 contender in the WBC rankings.
He is facing Mark “Oaktree” Brown, 15-4 (7), of Salem, NJ, over 10
rounds. Lawrence has won his last 6 fights all by knockout including
over Jason Gavern at Dover Downs May of 2011. Brown is no stranger to
Dover Downs having won 3 out of 3 fights there with 2 wins in 2006 and
another in 2009. He also holds a knockout win over current No. 6 WBC
contender Tony Grano. Franklin has been having problems getting the top
contenders to fight him and looks to please the fans.
Southpaw
Frankie Filippone, 11-2-1 (2), of Norfolk, VA, puts his 6 fight win
streak on the line against fellow southpaw Richard “Bobo” Starnino,
9-10-2 (2), of Providence, RI, in a light heavyweight match-up.
Filippone recently sparred 10 rounds with Dennis Hasson, the new
resident and unbeaten DE boxer at the Elsmere Gym in Wilmington.
Super
featherweight Omar “Super O” Douglas, 6-0 (4), of Wilmington is looking
for another Dover Downs Casino victory having all of his fights there.
He recently had a CA bout postponed when the card was cancelled. He is a
former amateur star and crowd pleaser. He will meet David Warner
Huffman, 4-12-1 (1), of Cincinnati, OH. He is 4-3-1 in his last 8 fights
having defeated 3 unbeaten boxers and looking to make Douglas number 4.
Welterweight
Edgar “El Chamaco” Santana, 26-4 (17), of New York, NY, returns to
Dover Downs after having his 5 fight win streak snapped almost a year
ago while going the entire 10 rounds with 2 broken hands. His opponent
is Eddie Soto, 12-5 (4), of Pawtucket, RI, who split in 2 fights with
Sean Eklund, the nephew of Mickey Ward.
Super
middleweight John “Church Boy” Bowman, 4-0-1 (0), of Dover, DE, is 3-0
at Dover Downs and will meet James Denson, 5-11-2 (2), of Akron, OH, who
lost to DE boxer Reuel Williams last August at Dover Downs.
Southpaw
Cornelius Lock, 19-6-1 (12), of Detroit, MI, returns to action after
over 2 years since losing in 11 rounds to newly crowned WBO
featherweight champion Mikey Garcia. Lock will meet Damon Antoine,
11-44-2 (5), of Akron, OH, in a light welterweight match. Antoine split
in 2 bouts with Ryan Belasco of DE with the second match at Dover Downs.
Last
but not least it’s our hope the popular Ronica “Queen” Jeffrey, 11-0
(1), of Brooklyn, NY, who won the WBC Silver female featherweight title
in August at Dover Downs and is 8-0 at the venue has an opponent for her
return. First fight will be at 7:30pm per publicist Lisa Butler of
Dover Downs who is the promoter. Nick Tiberi is the matchmaker.
