On Tuesday September, 22nd Leavander Johnson passed away due to injuries received in his fight with Jesus Chavez. For awhile after the fight it appeared as if Leavander’s condition had stabilized and was improving, but unfortunately this proud warrior would never regain consciousness.

It is always sad to see a good person go, but let us take some time to remember that Leavander died a champion, having achieved what he always strived for. He fought hard and refused to surrender in the face of pressure, the fight only being stopped when the referee waved it off.

Johnson dedicated his life to boxing, and becoming a champion was his dream. He fulfilled that dream, and while his reign and life were cut short, he should know that the entire boxing world takes pride in his achievements, desire and heart. On behalf of Doghouse Boxing I would like to express my sincerest condolences to the family of Leavander Johnson, and to let them know that our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.

Leavander Johnson will always be a champion, and while his life was cut short he will always be remembered.
