So why is the fight between Winky Wright and Peter Quillin, which was slated to take place on the Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto undercard on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, not taking place (at least, for now), despite both fighters having supposedly agreeing to all the terms?

I’m told that the Nevada State Athletic Commission had some concerns about Wright, who has not fought since April of 2009 (a lopsided loss to Paul Williams) and is now into his 40’s. It was not guaranteed that he would’ve received a license to box from the NSAC.

But to be honest, I think the back of Winky’s gloves are more beat up than Winky himself, from all the blocking and deflecting of punches he did with them throughout his career. Despite his advanced, age, he’s never really given off the feeling that he’s a beat up guy that needs to hang’em up.
