Paul Williams vs. Kermit Cintron: Will Anyone Show up in the Midst of Laker Fury?
By Steve Kim, MaxBoxing (May 6, 2010) Special to Doghouse Boxing
Today at the fine Italian eatery of Sisley in the city of Sherman Oaks the final press confernce was held for this Saturday nights fight between Kermit Cintron and Paul Williams at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California (my favorite local venue to cover a bout) which will be telecast on HBO, alongside the replay of the Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley fight.

I like this fight, given P-Will’s proclivity to want to mix it up and that he’ll force Cintron- who still has heavy hands- into a fight. I think it will be an entertaining affair. But my question is, will anyone in So Cal show up?

Think about it, the extremely popular Lakers are playing at around the same time on Saturday night in Game 3 of their playoff series versus the Jazz, and I figure that the hard-core Mexican fan will be watching the return of ’the Tijuana Tornado’ on Latin Fury 14.

Neither Williams or Cintron have any real roots here despite their solid professional runs. I would be surprised to see the Home Depot Center tennis court (which seats around 7,500, I believe) is even half-full.
