Boxing Notes: Pacquiao, Mayweather, Mike Jones vs Irving Garcia, Tomasz Adamek, Tim Bradley, Andre Berto, Williams, Cintron and More

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Tim Bradley moving up to face WBC welterweight titlist, Andre Berto, if he’s not going to face Devon Alexander. My reasoning is simple, if Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao keep up the posturing and just circle each other, they will need other options in the interim. Well, the winner of this will bring a ton of credibility to the dance. Berto isn’t the biggest welterweight and Bradley is a quick-fisted fighter. If Berto isn’t allowed to clinch incessantly, this could be a barnburner.

There’s a very good non-televised bout on Saturday night before Williams-Cintron when jr. lightweight Martin Honorio faces Argenis Mendez. I like the talented, but underachieving, Mendez in this fight.

I was informed by promoter J. Russell Peltz that his welterweight prospect Mike Jones (pictured above) will most likely face Irving Garcia on either July 9th or the 16th on ESPN2, most likely. And then fight on the undercard of Tomasz Adamek’s next outing in Newark, which could take place at the end of the summer at the Prudential Center..
