Bob Arum and Richard Schaefer on Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather - 'Mum' Will be the Word (Hopefully)

I was just on a conference call with Bob Arum who talked a bit about Manny Pacquiao’s political victory in the Philippines and his future as a congressmen. Of course, there was some talk of his future inside the ring, and of course, a possible showdown with Floyd Mayweather in the fall.

But Arum made it clear that while he has his marching orders, he will not get bogged down into negotiating this through the press and sparring verbally through the media like the last time. I then called Richard Schaefer, Golden Boy Promotions, CEO, who admitted that while they will try and make this fight, he will also adhere to the policy of ’no comment’ as it relates to this fight from this point forward.

Lets hope they stick to this edict. Covering this back in December and January became a tiresome process and I’m sure you fans out there got sick of it, too.

Either make the fight or break it. But just do so privately and in a way that doesn’t overshadow every other thing happening in the sport of boxing..
