Kevin Mitchell vs Michael Katsidis - The Best Fight of the Weekend

While there is a doubleheader on HBO at the WaMu Theater at MSG, in London, England their is a battle for the WBO interim lightweight title between Kevin Mitchell against Michael Katsidis. It says right here it’s the best fight of the weekend for one very simple reason- Katsidis is involved.

Just look at his track record, he is almost never in a bad fight. In fact, I remember a stretch back in 2007 and 2008 where it seemed that he was in a ’Fight of the Year’ candidate every single fight as he took on the likes of Graham Earl, Czar Amonsot and Joel Casamayor. This is an old-school warrior, he looks at himself as a modern day gladiator and he relished combat.

But he is the type of fighter that will (and has) aged prematurely, it seems, with all the arduous contests he’s been involved in. And that’s precisely the reason why I’m going against Katsidis( still one of my favorite fighters of the most recent era) in this fight. Mitchell, is a tough, solid guy, who is on his home turf. He’s undefeated (31-0/23 KO’s), ambitious and in my opinion, has more left in the gas tank.

But either way, it should be a great fight. After all, Katsidis is involved...
