You'll never guess who
buzzed Richard Schaefer (CEO for Golden Boy Promotions) on Monday. Top Rank. Yes, you read that correctly.
“I had conversations with
Todd duBoef as it relates to potentially having Erik Morales fight Juan Manuel
Marquez,” said Schaefer, as Marquez continues the process of selecting his
opponent for July 14th at Cowboys Stadium. OK, but looking at the
bigger picture, can these talks lead to these two archrivals doing “bidness”
when necessary?
“Well, we're having
conversations and I think that's a good sign,” said Schaefer, pointing out, “You
have to take steps before you run. Just the fact we're having conversations is
a good thing and I told Todd I'd really rather deal with him.”
Schaefer called Bob Arum's
comparisons of Floyd Mayweather to Joseph Goebbels, “a bit nutty” and it's
clear that at least he and duBoef can keep things civil."But yeah, we've
had conversations and hopefully, they'll lead to some fights. That's all I can
say but I definitely think it's a step.”
All we are saying is give
