The latest on Nonito Donaire and the never-ending quest to find him a slot on
either HBO or Showtime is now focused on June 30th on HBO. Word was
that Top Rank wanted to showcase him at the Home Depot Center in Carson but as
you look at the boxing calendar, there's a lot of stuff going on starting June
2nd (with the Golden Boy quadruple-header) and June 23rd at the Staples Center (with the Victor Ortiz-Andre Berto rematch).
If Amir Khan does
end up at the Honda Center on July 7th, you’ll have to wonder if
placing Donaire in that venue becomes a bit of overkill.
Let's face it; boxing fans only have so much discretionary income and what do
they say about spreading the wealth around a bit?
