I asked Cohen why the Empire crumbled so quickly
in the boxing business. His answer was, "You should ask Shelly Finkel, the
CEO of Empire. I'm no longer involved with the Empire and it's really not
appropriate for me to comment on."...I get the sense when Cohen talks
about his vast history in boxing, which I'm told began in 1988, he will omit
this chapter...
It's great that Bob Arum still says 'champeen'; that's old-school...
Heavyweight
Seth Mitchell is under consideration to open up the Aug. 27th show on HBO,
I'm told...“The Baby Bull,” Juan Diaz has decided to call it a day and embark
on law school. Having covered him since his very early days with Main Events, I
wish him all the luck in the world. He had a very nice career and got
everything out of his ability...
When you go pay-per-view as a promoter, you
really are taking a financial risk. The 2006 card that featured the rematch
between Hasim Rahman and Oleg Maskaev saw Top
Rank lose about two million bucks...
Just my opinion but I like Victor Ortiz - Floyd Mayweather
as a fight; I give it the official “K9” endorsement...And if Richard Schaefer makes his
vision of that event come true (read: Schaefer looks to break all records with Mayweather - Ortiz, Saul Alvarez and More in PPV extravaganza), I have a tough choice to make: the fights or
the Miami-Ohio State game that same night?...
Speaking of the Buckeyes, Terrelle
Pryor's career at THE Ohio State was over long before Tuesday's announcement...
“Game
of Thrones” on HBO just keeps getting better and better...
Is it just me but in
the NFL Network’s “Top 100 Players,” isn't “Big Ben” of the Steelers a tad
low at #41?...
Seriously, did anyone for one second ever believe what Anthony
Weiner was trying to sell last week?...
I know the USC trophy case is a lot
emptier than it was a few short years ago but here's the thing, if it happened
on the field of play, you can't take it back. That 2004 Trojan squad was a
monster...
