It’s official; Alfredo
Angulo has signed with Golden Boy Promotions in the wake of his former TV
packager, Gary Shaw, essentially walking away after having buying out Angulo’s contract. On
August 20th, “Perro” makes his return to the ring in Mexicali
against Joseph Gomez (televised by ESPN Deportes and ESPN3.com), according to
BoxRec.com.

Not sure what his
immigration status is (you hear a million different things) but it seems to be
a natural that Angulo eventually gets to face WBC junior middleweight champion
Saul Alvarez in a big all-Mexican showdown (Of course, this being boxing, that
fight will probably never take place).
- The show tentatively
scheduled for September 15th in Ontario, California, that was to
have featured WBC featherweight titlist Jhonny Gonzalez and heavyweight Chris
Arreola, was in jeopardy as of Thursday afternoon because Mexican network
Televisa pulled out of the event for whatever reason.
- It looks like the October
1st show in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand featuring WBC junior
featherweight titlist Toshiaki Nishioka against Rafael Marquez will be a “Top
Rank Live” telecast (which means, as usual, check your local listings on Fox
Sports Net/Deportes). Todd DuBoef was meeting with representatives of Teiken
Promotions to wrap up the final details on Thursday. This day will be a busy
one on the boxing docket because in addition to this card, you have HBO (Sergio
Martinez vs. Darren Barker) and in Puerto Rico, a card co-headlined by Juan Manuel
Lopez and Rocky Martinez will be staged.
